Southland alum Dorian Missick is set to co-star opposite Diallo Riddle & Bashir Salahuddin in their HBO comedy pilot, which is executive produced by Lorne Michaels.
Written by Riddle and Salahuddin, the untitled project stars the duo as Bashir and Diallo, two 30-year old-reporters, as they try to make it big in the burgeoning black mecca of contemporary Atlanta, aka the New South. Missick, repped by Innovative Artists, MJ Management, and Rick Genow, will play Jay, an ex-Harvard classmate of Bashir and Diallo who has reached fame and success within the community in Atlanta.
Also cast in the pilot are Tasie Lawrence as Chloe, a 20-something photographer who is assigned to Bashir and Diallo because her father runs the Atlanta Torch, the newspaper where they work; and Barry Shabaka Henley as Buddy, Chloe’s father and Bashir and Diallo’s boss. Riddle, Salahuddin and Michaels executive produce the pilot with Dave Flebotte who serves as showrunner.
Missick can be currently seen on the big screen in Neil Drumming’s Big Words opposite Gbenga Akinnagbe (“The Wire”), Zachary Booth (‘Keep The Lights On”), Yaya Alafia (“The Kids Are All Right’) and Darien Sills-Evans.
