Warner Bros. has announced that they will release its con artist pic “Focus,” starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie on February 27, 2015.
Written and directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, who helmed “Crazy, Stupid, Love” for the studio, the story follows an inexperienced female con artist who teams up with a more seasoned male one. Denise DiNovi will produce.
According to the film’s wiki page, “Nicky Spurgeon, a professional con artist, takes a young, attractive woman under his wing. They get involved romantically but that becomes perilous in a business where they lie and cheat for a living. The complications of the encounter haunt them when they meet up again in the future. Complicating matters even more, Nicky finds himself at odds with another suitor for the girl’s affections, as well as a run-in with a former flame…all before the heist of a lifetime.”
At one point, Kristen Stewart was attached to also star in the pic but when Smith became engaged in the project, Stewart fell off with the feeling that the age difference between the two would be too large a gap.
Smith currently has a cameo in Warner Bros.’ ‘The Winter’s Tale‘ with Colin Farrell while Robbie is seen opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese‘s Oscar nominated film, ‘The Wolf of Wall Street.’
