Reg E. Cathey, who was last seen in Netflix’s House of Cards, has joined the cast of The Fantastic Four as Dr. Franklin Storm, father to Sue and Johnny Storm.
Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell are playing the roles of Reid Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Johnny Storm/ Human Torch, Sue Storm/ Invisible Woman, and Ben Grimm/ The Thing, respectively.
Directed by Josh Trank, and based on the comic “The Ultimate Fantastic Four,” the contemporary update will focus on the characters as young men and women. Simon Kinberg, Matthew Vaughn and Gregory Goodman are serving as producers.
Tim Story, who directed the previous two Fantastic Four films, told Blackfilm.com back in 2012 that he wished they would go with Ultimate Fantastic Four if a reboot was to be made, stating “I would like to see ‘The Ultimate Fantastic Four,’ where they use the young kids who don’t go up in space. Reed Richards builds this thing and creates an ultimate universe and that’s how they get their powers. In my opinion, that would be amazing.”
In Marvel’s Ultimate universe, Franklin was partially responsible for the creation of The Fantastic Four.
“The Fantastic Four” is slated to bow June 19, 2015.
