Batman V. Superman Henry Cavill as SupermanWarner Bros., via USA Today, has released an image of Henry Cavill in his Superman costume for Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, his follow-up to Man of Steel.

Currently filming in Detroit, Henry Cavill stars as Clark Kent/ Superman and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/ Batman. Gal Gadot comes in as Diana Prince/ Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Ray Fisher as Cyborg,  Tao Okamoto, Callan Mulvey, Scoot McNairy and Holly Hunter.

‘Argo’s Chris Terrio wrote the screenplay based on the screenplay by David S. Goyer. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing the film.

Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane will reprise their roles from ‘Man of Steel as Lois Lane, Perry Clark, and Superman’s mom Martha Kent, respectively.

Dawn of Justice continues to immerse him on Earth by working at the Daily Planet as Clark Kent along with Lois Lane (Amy Adams) and Perry White (Laurence Fishburne). But it also takes him to new environments such as Gotham City and introduces larger threats, including Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg).

In his interview with USA Today, Snyder says, “It ultimately made sense with Dawn of Justice to add Bruce Wayne and his cowled alter ego to the mix. Because of Christopher Nolan’s recent Dark Knight trilogy, “I was in no rush to put Batman in the movie. But on the other hand it seemed organic the way our story was unfolding to start to feather him in.”

Batmobile Ben Affleck BatmanInstead of using several movies to define Affleck’s Batman, Snyder felt the character’s 75-year mythology is so deep in culture now that they can just jump to an older, road-weary take on the Dark Knight. Plus, he says, “it’s cooler to see a crusty old Batman beating the snot out of guys.”

The director can’t say exactly how the relationship between the two superheroes evolves, “but suffice it to say there is a ‘v’ in between their names” in the movie title, Snyder says. He explains that having the “v” instead of “vs.” is a way “to keep it from being a straight ‘versus’ movie, even in the most subtle way.”

The rest of the interview can be read here.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
