Happy Franklin Day from Charles Schulz’s PeanutsPosted by Wilson Morales
July 31, 2015
Today we celebrate Franklin’s first appearance in the world of Charles Schulz’s Peanuts. July 31 is #FranklinDay!
This year, Schulz’s iconic strip “Peanuts” is celebrating its 65th Anniversary as part of the fabric of our culture. On July 31st, 1968 Charles Schulz introduced Franklin, the first African American character, to appear alongside Charlie Brown and his friends.
Mar Mar voices Frankin, Charlie Brown’s good friend and confidant, and the only one who never has an unkind word about our hapless hero, or anyone else for that matter, Mar Mar has worked on the TV series Austin & Alley (on the Disney Channel), Guys with Kids, Bubble Guppies and Good Luck Charlie.
20th Century Fox and Blue Sky will release The Peanuts Movie in theaters in 3D on November 6, 2015. Produced by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, Freaks and Geeks) and directed by Steve Martino, the animated film will feature the voices of Noah Schnapp, Hadley Belle Miller, AJ Tecce, Noah Johnston, Venus Schultheis, Alexander Garfin, Francesca Capaldi, Mar Mar, Mariel Sheets and Rebecca Bloom.

Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus and the rest of the beloved “Peanuts” gang make their big-screen debut, like they’ve never been seen before, in state of the art 3D animation. Snoopy, the world’s most lovable beagle – and flying ace – embarks upon his greatest mission as he takes to the skies to pursue his arch-nemesis The Red Baron, while his best pal, Charlie Brown, begins his own epic quest. From the imagination of Charles M. Schulz and the creators of the ICE AGE films, THE PEANUTS MOVIE will prove that every underdog has his day.
Happy Franklin Day
