With Empire set to go on a long break before the second half of season 2 begins in March, Fox TV announced that it stars Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard will co-host a holiday special on Wednesday, Dec. 9 (9/8c), titled Taraji and Terrence’s White Hot Holidays.
The big event, described as a “music and variety special,” will feature a special duet by Henson and Howard and modern performances of classic holiday songs as well as performances by Mary J. Blige, John Legend and Jamie Foxx, with additional surprise guests expected to appear.
According to Deadline, Empire returned this season as the No. 1 series on broadcast television, averaging 22.9 million viewers across multiple platforms, as well as being the most tweeted-about scripted program on broadcast television this season on Twitter.
Empire will end the first half of the season after its Dec. 2 midseason finale, and won’t return until March 30.
“White Hot Holidays” is produced by Casey Patterson Entertainment, Don Mischer Productions, Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard and Vincent Cirrincione.
