Deadline is reporting from the Cannes Film Festival that Will Packer will be producing via his Will Packer Productions banner Adrian Lyne’s Silence, starring Michael Douglas and Halle Berry.
Douglas starred on Lyne’s 1987 Fatal Attraction, which received six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actress for co-star Glen Close.
Adapted by Billy Ray based on the bestselling 2013 A.S.A. Harrison novel, the story set in Chicago during a snow-covered Christmas in the 1960s, when for John Carpenter, the holiday spirit is broken by violence throughout the city, and an unlikely stranger named Silence saves his life during a deadly riot. The story will leave you questioning how far you would go to protect the ones you love.
Lotus Entertainment has come aboard to sell international rights at the Cannes film market. Packer will produce with Will Packer Productions head of motion pictures James Lopez, and with Lyne. Jim Seibel, Bill Johnson, Ara Keshishian and Angus Sutherland of Lotus are serving as executive producers.
This is the second project that Berry has committed to from Cannes. She’s attached to star in Turkish-French writer/director Deniz Gamze Ergüven’s English-language feature film debut with “Kings,” a drama set during the 1992 Los Angeles riots.
