Earlier this morning, Netflix released a new teaser trailer for the upcoming sixth and final season of House of Cards, and there is a glimpse of actor Boris Kodjoe in what seems to be inside the President’s office. No other information has been to his character or whether he will be a series regular in a recurring role. He could be a lobbyist like Oscar winner Mahershala Ali’s Remy Danton or he could be a member of her cabinet.
Golden Globe winner and Emmy Award nominee Robin Wright returns as Claire Underwood, the President of the United States in the series. Kevin Spacey‘s character Frank Underwood will no longer be on the show as he was killed off. ‘My first 100 days as president have been difficult. I lost my husband. We were about to celebrate 30 years together. Whatever Francis told you in the last five years, don’t believe a word of it.”
Wright is joined by series newcomers Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear as well as Cody Fern. The series also brings back Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Patricia Clarkson, Constance Zimmer, Derek Cecil, Campbell Scott and Boris McGiver in the sixth and final season.
In 2013, House of Cards became the first original online series to receive major nominations from the Primetime Emmy Awards. The series has received 53 Emmy nominations to date, with seven wins — including the first major Emmy for a streaming service for David Fincher’s win for “Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.” House of Cards received six Golden Globe nominations, and two wins. The historic series has received 11 Screen Actors Guild nominations with two wins; an AFI Award; four Writers Guild Award nominations, with one win; two BAFTA nominations; four Producers Guild Award nominations; two Directors Guild Award nominations; and a Peabody Award, among other accolades.
Kodjoe, who was last seen in CBS’ cancelled Code Black, will also be seen in Season 2 of ABC’s Station 19 in the recurring role of a “seasoned firefighter with a mysterious past.” His previous TV credits include The Last Man on Earth, as well as NBC’s Undercovers and the Showtime drama Soul Food.
Season 6 will premiere on November 2 at Netflix.
