“Nok Aaut,” written by Nadria Tucker and Tiffany Greshler, and directed by Salli Richardson-Whitfield (“Queen Sugar,” “Shadowhunters”), features Cato and his recently acquired affluence, as he boasts to his captive Noah (Aldis Hodge) of his time in Europe. Following Rosalee’s (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) harrowing struggle for survival, she is cared for by Elizabeth (Jessica de Gouw) when her shocking secret is revealed. Meanwhile, things go awry when Georgia (Jasika Nicole) and Elizabeth oppose slavery at a rally.
Season two of the 10-episode, hour-long series follows an unremitting struggle for freedom within a divided America on the brink of civil war, each side vying to enact their own justice. In the premiere, a desperate Rosalee (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), anxiously awaits Noah’s (Aldis Hodge) release from prison, and joins forces with Harriet Tubman (Aisha Hinds) to fend off slave catchers and secure the safe passage of runaways. The fight for freedom continues, even as tragedy strikes.
