Aldis Hodge, who recently played MC Ren in the blockbuster hit Straight Outta Compton, has been added to the cast of Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, starring Tom Cruise.
Paramount Pictures and Skydance Media today announced that principal photography has started on the sequel, which will be directed by Edward Zwick. Production will take place in New Orleans. The film is set for release on October 21, 2016.
The new film, a sequel to 2012’s Jack Reacher, is based on author Lee Child’s 18th book in the bestselling Jack Reacher series, “Never Go Back.” The film is written by Richard Wenk, Marshall Herskovitz & Zwick.
Added to the cast are Cobie Smulders, Danika Yarosh, Austin Hebert, Patrick Heusinger,and Holt McCallany.
According to the plot synopsis listed by Amazon – Jack Reacher finally reaches Virginia, but his long-awaited meeting with Susan isn’t meant to be. Instead, he finds a new commanding officer of the 110 MP; Susan has been arrested; and Reacher is about to be recalled back into the Army..
Cruise is producing alongside Don Granger, Skydance Media’s David Ellison and Dana Goldberg, and Christopher McQuarrie. The executive producers are Paula Wagner and Herb Gains.
Prior to his breakout status in ‘Compton,’ Aldis is best known for portraying Alec Hardison on the TNT series Leverage. His additional feature credits include Fox Searchlight feature The East, starring opposite Alexander Skarsgard, A Good Day To Die Hard with Bruce Willis, the Coen Brothers’ The Ladykillers, and the Academy Award-winning animated family film, Happy Feet.
Hodge has also been cast as a series regular on the soon-to-be seen WGN America series “Underground.” He has appeared on multiple television shows including “The Walking Dead,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” and “Friday Night Lights,” among others.
