Variety is reporting that director Antoine Fuqua and Jake Gyllenhaal, who already have worked together on the upcoming boxer film “Southpaw,” will team again for The Weinstein Co. in “The Man Who Made It Snow.”

“Snow” is a biopic of notorious 1980s cocaine smuggler Max Mermelstein, who at the time was the only American admitted to the inner circle of the Colombian cocaine cartel. The screenplay by Brett Tabor and Michael Kingston is based on the now-deceased Mermelstein’s bestselling autobiography of the same title.

TWC will co-finance and distribute in the U.S. Production is by Fuqua Films, IM Global and Gyllenhaal.

Boxing drama “Southpaw” is based on the true story of left-handed boxing champion Billy “The Great” Hope, who fights his way to redemption after a devastating tragedy. It will be released by the Weinstein Co. later this year.
