Variety is reporting that BET has canceled The Quad after two seasons.
With Felicia D. Henderson was show runner, the cast was led by Anika Noni Rose, Peyton Alex Smith, Jazz Raycole, Zoe Renee, Jake Allyn, Michelle DeFraites and Sean Blakemore.
“THE Quad” follows ambitious yet troubled Dr. Eva Fletcher (Anika Noni Rose), the first woman and youngest President of the fictional prestigious HBCU school, Georgia A&M University.
In Season 2, Georgia A&M’s survival as an independent, historically Black university hung in a precarious balance as the driven Dr. Eva Fletcher (Rose) struggled to raise capital for the nearly bankrupt institution and was on the brink of joining Georgia’s large, public and predominantly White university system in order to keep its doors open. The freshman class also dealt with the stress of pledging, hazing, academic probation, post-traumatic stress, hate crime attacks and prescription drug abuse.
According the site, the series initially kicked off in February 2017 with a two-hour pilot movie. Season 2 of the series averaged a 0.2 rating in adults 18-49 and 553,000 viewers per episode in the Nielsen Live+Same Day numbers, down around 30% in both measures from the first season.
