Variety is reporting that Oscar winner Forest Whitaker, Daniel Kaluuya and Florence Kasumba have joined the cast of Marvel’s Black Panther.

Ryan Coogler will direct the film from a script he’s writing with Joe Robert Cole.

Chadwick Boseman will star as the title hero in Black Panther and he’s joined by Michael B. Jordan, who will play Erik Killmonger, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia (a former member of Wakanda’s Dora Milaje, now an agent of Killmonger), Andy Serkis as Age of Ultron’s low-tier baddie Ulysses Claw, and Danai Gurira as Okoye (a member of the Dora Milaje, the all-female security for the King of Wakanda). Winston Duke, most recently seen on CBS’ Person of Interest, was recently cast in the role of the villain M’Baku, aka Man-Ape.

Whitaker will play the role of Zuri, an elder stateman in Wakanda. Kasumba will reprise her “Captain America: Civil War” role as Ayo, a member of the Dora Milaje. Kaluuya will play T’Challa confidant W’Kabi.

During her appearance at San Diego Comic Con, Wyong’o stated some news on the plot, stating “The story is that the Black Panther’s leadership is really threatened by two foes who come together, and so Black Panther gets the help of the C.I.A. and the Dora Milaje to try and defeat the enemy.”

Whitaker will next be seen in the sic-fi film “Arrival,” directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner, and “Star Wars: Rogue One” opening in December. Daniel Kaluuya was featured opposite Emily Blunt in “Sicario,” directed again by Villeneuve and will next be seen in Jordan Peele’s horror comedy “Get Out.”

Shooting begins in January in Atlanta, Georgia. Black Panther hits theaters on February 16, 2018 release.
