Coming out this week is comedy-drama film The Spectacular Now, starring Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley. Directed by James Ponsoldt and written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber (based on The Spectacular Now by Tim Tharp), the film also star Brie Larson, Dayo Okeniyi, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kyle Chandler, Andre Royo, and Bob Odenkirk.
The film is the tale of Sutter Keely (Miles Teller), a high school senior and effortless charmer, and of how he unexpectedly falls in love with “the good girl” Aimee Finecky (Shailene Woodley). What starts as an unlikely romance becomes a sharp-eyed, straight-up snapshot of the heady confusion and haunting passion of youth – one that doesn’t look for tidy truths.
Okeniyi, who was last seen in ‘The Hunger Games,’ plays Marcus, a star athlete who competes with Teller’s character for the affection of Brie Larson’s character. Also included in the film is Andre Royo, who plays Sutter’s teacher.
