Blackfilm.com has confirmed that Colman Domingo, Daniel Breaker, and James Ransone are also in Spike Lee‘s latest film, ‘Red Hook Summer,’ which is slated to hit theaters in summer 2012.

With principal photography completed this past summer, the cast already includes Lee, Clarke Peters, Nate Parker, Turron Kofi Alleyne, Samantha Ivers, Limary Agosto, Heather Simms, and Kalon Jackson.

Details on the plot is still limited, but sources have stated that the story centers on a adult from Atlanta who comes and spends the summer in Red Hook section of Brooklyn, NY.

While Blackfilm.com noted that Lee is reprising his role of Mookie, the Brooklyn pizza delivery man who was a major character in his 1989 film ‘Do the Right Thing,‘ the famed director was quick to clear the air as to whether the film was a sequel or not.

“Red Hook Summer is not a Sequel to Do The Right Thing and it has nothing to do with Brooklyn Loves MJ. Subject Matter?New Spike Lee Joint”

Both Domingo and Breaker appeared together in the 2008 Tony Award winning musical ‘Passing Strange,’ in which Lee filmed for theatrical release in 2009.

A veteran of many Broadway and Off-Broadway plays, Domingo received a 2011 Tony nomination for his role in Kander and Ebb’s Broadway musical ‘The Scottsboro Boys.’ Besides his role as Mister Franklin/ Venus of Berlin in ‘Passing Strange,’ the Philadelphia native also had a self-penned Off-Broadway play called ‘A Boy and His Soul.’

Early in 2011, Breaker appeared opposite Bradley Cooper in ‘Limitless,’ and appeared on stage with Sanaa Lathan in the Off-Broadway hit play ‘By the Way, Meet Vera Stark.’ The Kansas native received a Tony nomination for his role as Youth in the original cast of ‘Passing Strange,’ He also played Donkey in the original Broadway production of ‘Shrek the Musical.’

Ransome, who currently play ‘Nick’ in HBO’s acclaimed TV series ‘Treme,’ appeared in Lee’s heist film ‘Inside Man,’ playing the role of Steve-O. He will next appear opposite Channing Tatum in ‘The Son of No One,’ which hits theaters in November.

Note: Contrary to what IMDB has listed, Keke Palmer is NOT in the film.
