Condola Rashad Lands Lead Role In Indie ‘Bikini Sunshine’Posted by Wilson Morales

Deadline is reporting that actress Condola Rashad, who currently stars opposite Damian Lewis & Paul Giamatti in Showtime’s “Billions,” has landed the lead and title role to the independent film, “Bikini Sunshine.”
Written and to be directed by Spirit Award winner Milcho Manchevsk (Before The Rain), the site stated that “Bikini is described as a charismatic, mercurial and troubled former Marine who returns from Iraq and inadvertently becomes the center of a documentary film while she tries to integrate herself back in society as well as regain custody of her young daughter.”
Rashad, the daughter of actress Phylicia Rashad and former NFL player Ahmad Rashād, will next be seen in director Jodie Foster’s “Money Monster” with George Clooney. Among her film credits include appearing in the 2012 “Steel Magnolias” remake with the same title. Recently, Rashad appeared in Joshua Marston’s film “Complete Unknown” with Michael Shannon and Rachel Weisz, which premiered at Sundance and was acquired by Amazon Studios. An accomplished theater actress, she’s appeared in “Ruined,” “Romeo and Juliet,” “Stick Fly,” and “The Trip To Bountiful.” She received Tony Award nominations for the latter two.
