After touring the festival circuit, Damien D. Smith‘s short film, ‘About That,’ is now available on iTunes.
Written, directed and starring Smith, the short also stars Crystal Cotton.
Summer (played by Crystal Cotton) and Jonathan (played by Smith himself) are in love, but love isn’t enough for some people. Their relationship can only be described as pure bliss. Unfortunately, the world is uncomfortable with the pair and a series of events start to hint at Jonathan’s mental stability.
In speaking with St. Louis Mag, Smith explains, “I knew I wanted to direct it, but since I hadn’t directed anything on this scale before, I chose to start with a short. I wanted to offer just a slice of life for Jonathon and Summer, but not try to portray a full narrative or a real resolution. I wanted to start a dialogue about mental health and talk about acceptance of who someone decides to be with or falls in love with, no matter what.”
