Marvel has confirmed that Daredevil’s Deborah Ann Woll and previously rumored Luke Cage’s Simone Missick will also appear in The Defenders, reprising their roles as Karen Page and Misty Knight.
The series stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and Finn Jones as Danny Rand. During New York Comic Con, it was announced that Academy Award and Emmy nominee and Golden Globe winner Sigourney Weaver will join the cast as the villain for the series.
Woll joins the supporting cast of Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson) Eka Darville (Malcolm), and Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple), who had already been announced.
As Karen Page, Woll has already appeared in both seasons of Daredevil and will next be seen in The Punisher series with Jon Bernthal.
Marvel’s Daredevil showrunners Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie serve as showrunners and executive producers along with Drew Goddard, Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory. Director S.J. Clarkson (Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Dexter) will direct the first two episodes of the culinating mini-series event. The eight-episode series will premiere in 2017 along with Marvel’s Iron Fist and Marvel’s The Punisher.
