Denzel Washington picWhile their latest collaboration, ‘The Equalizer,’ doesn’t open until the fall, Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua are looking to work again for a third time, but this time on a remake of a famous film, ‘The Magnificent Seven.’

According to Deadline, Fuqua has been offered the directing gig and he wants his main guy, Washington, to lead what is sure to be a star-studded ensemble. The duo first worked together on ‘Training Day,’ which netted Washington his first Oscar for Best Actor and his second award overall.

Based on the 1954 Akira Kurosawa Japanese film, ‘The Seven Samurai,’ the 1960 Magnificent Seven, which starred Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, and Charles Bronson, was a film where a group of men (7) were hired to protect a small village in Mexico from a large group of bandits.

The site states that Nic Pizzolatto, who went on to write and exec produce HBO’s True Detective, wrote a draft and John Lee Hancock came on to rewrite the film.
