Derek Luke has joined the CBS drama pilot Second Sight toplined by Jason Lee, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Based on the U.K. series of the same name by Paula Milne, the gothic psychological thriller revolves around Det. Ross Tanner, who is suddenly afflicted with an autoimmune virus that causes hallucinations reflective of his subconscious. He discovers that catching the killer depends as much on insight as eyesight.

Luke will play Det. Paul Giroux, a new member of Tanner’s team, who is after Tanner’s job. Giroux is somewhat self-consciously hip, full of himself and consistently oversteps. He comes across as an eager beaver know-it-all, trying to assert an authority that he hasn’t earned and doesn’t yet possess. Kim Dickens, Erik Jensen and Madison Moellers co-star.

Homeland’s Michael Cuesta will pen the drama alongside his brother, Gerald Cuesta. Both will exec produce, with the former also directing the pilot. CSI’s Carol Mendelsohn will also exec produce the CBS Television Studios drama alongside Julie Weitz, Nick Reed, Phil Goldfine and Paula Milne.

Luke is repped by WME and Greenlight Management. He recently appeared in FX’s The Americans, was a regular on NBC’s Trauma, TNT’s Hawthorne and counts Sparkle, Captain America and Friday Night Lights as film credits.
