DeWanda Wise Joins Husband Alano Miller For Season 2 Of WGN America’s UndergroundPosted by Wilson Morales

Over the weekend actor Alano Miller tweeted out that his wife, actress DeWanda Wise will be joining him in Season 2 of WGN America’s critically acclaimed series, “Underground.”
The second season of “Underground,” which will span 10 episodes, will follow an unremitting struggle for freedom within a divided America on the brink of civil war, each side vying to enact their own justice.

Wise will play Clara, a preacher’s daughter from an enslaved community. The Baltimore, MD native also joins Aisha Hinds, who was recently cast to play Harriet Tubman. The two will also be featured in Fox’s event series “Shots Fired.”
Coming back from Season 1 are Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aldis Hodge, Christopher Meloni, Alano Miller, Jessica de Gouw and Amirah Vann. Marc Blucas will return in a guest role, as John Hawkes.
Other additions to the cast for the upcoming season are Jasika Nicole, Michael Trotter and Jesse Luken.
Wise can be currently seen in the indie film How to Tell You’re a Douchebag, which was just released on iTunes and played at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
Created by Misha Green and Joe Pokaski, the show is executive produced by John Legend, Akiva Goldsman, Tory Tunnell, Joby Harold, Mike Jackson, Ty Stiklorius and Anthony Hemingway. Sony Pictures Television is the studio.
Season 2 of “Underground” heads into production this week in Savannah, Georgia, and is slated to premiere in early 2017.
