Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is close to joining Liam Hemsworth in the indie heist film, ‘Empire State,’ states Deadline.com.

Dito Montiel (Fighting, The Son Of No One) would direct the film from a script written by Adam Mazer (Breach, HBO’s You Don’t Know Jack). Formerly titled ‘The Sentry Keep,’ pic is based on the true story of a 1982 NYC armored car company robbery thought at the time to be the largest cash heist in U.S. history. Hemsworth would play the role of Chris, while Johnson plays Ransone. Filming would begin in April.

David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman of Mandeville Films are producing.

Coming up next for Johnson is ‘Journey 2: The Mysterious Island’ and ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation,’ while Hemsworth will be seen in ‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘The Expendables 2.’
