HBO has been keeping fans of the immensely popular series, Euphoria, on the edge of their seats for over a year (in part due to the pandemic) in anticipation of season 2. The network appeased fans of the show today by releasing a trailer for two special episodes, with the first set to drop on Dec. 6.
The 50 second trailer picks up where season 1 left off, with Rue (Zendaya) relapsing and using cocaine after her girlfriend Jules (Hunter Schafer) has left her to board a train leaving town after the high school winter formal. Rue goes to the town’s diner to mull over her life when she runs into Ali (Colman Domingo), a friend from her Narcotics Anonymous group. The first of the two episodes entitled, “Part 1: Rue”, is directed by the series’ creator Sam Levinson. Part one of the two episode special is set to air Dec. 6 at 9 P.M on HBO Max. There is no date set for the second episode.
Euphoria is based on the Israeli show of the same name; created by Hot’s Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin and produced in partnership with A24. Executive producing is the show’s creator, Levinson, along with Drake, Ravi Nandan, Kevin Turen, Future the Prince, Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein, Ron Leshem, Daphna Levin, Tmira Yardeni, Mirit Toovi, Yoram Mokady and Gary Lennon.
Zendaya has impressed critics with her role as Rue and even became the youngest person to win an Emmy for best lead actress in a drama for the show. The actress broke onto the scene in the Disney series Shake It Up and has starred in the blockbuster movies Spiderman: Far From Home and The Greatest Showman. She can be seen alongside John David Washington in the upcoming Malcolm & Marie. View the trailer for “Part One: Rue” below.
