With so much back and forth as to who will direct the eighth installment of “Furious” franchise, director F. Gary Gray has confirmed that he will take the helm after Vin Diesel said he was his top choice for the gig.
The director tweeted out a photo of Furious 8 with a release date and stated “Cant ask for better partners than Vin, Neal & Universal. Excited to bring u the next chapter of the #FastFamily saga.”
After directing this summer’s “Straight Outta Compton” to a gross of $160M and counting, he became one of the most sought after directors. There’s even talk that he’s being considered to direct Marvel’s Black Panther.
Furious 8 is expected to bring back the cast that includes Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson, as well as Jason Statham and Kurt Russell.
Gray and Diesel worked together on A Man Apart.
