MTV has posted new stills from director Wes Ball‘s The Maze Runner, which stars Dylan O’Brien, Will Poulter, Kaya Scodelario, Aml Ameen, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Ki Hong Lee, and Jacob Latimore. The film i based on the first book in James Dashner’s sci-fi trilogy.
When Thomas (Poulter) wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. His memory is blank. But he’s not alone. When the lift’s doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade — a large, open expanse surrounded by stone walls.
Just like Thomas, the Gladers don’t know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night they’ve closed tight. And every 30 days a new boy has been delivered in the lift.
Thomas was expected. But the next day, a girl is sent up—the first girl to ever arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers.
Thomas might be more important than he could ever guess. If only he could unlock the dark secrets buried within his mind.
Also included in the film is Dexter Darden, who plays Frypan, the keeper of the cooks. He appeared in the musical Joyful Noise with Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton.
Ameen, who play Albys, the honorable but stern leader of the Gladers, will also be seen as the younger version of Forest Whitaker‘s character in Lee Daniels‘ historical drama, “The Butler,” released by The Weinstein Co. Ameen was a lead in the British cult classic film Kidulthood and the popular British TV series The Bill.
Latimore, who plays Jeff, one of two Med-Jacks (doctors) in the Glade, will next be seen next in the Fox Searchlight pic “Black Nativity“ with Forest Whitaker and Jennifer Hudson as well as Universal’s “Ride Along” with Ice Cube and Kevin Hart
The Maze Runner hit theaters on February 14, 2014.
