Paramount Pictures and MGM have released the first photos from the upcoming film, “Ben-Hur,” which is based on Lew Wallace’s 1880 novel, “Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ.”
Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, the film stars Jack Huston, Toby Kebbell, Toby Kebbell, Morgan Freeman, Rodrigo Santoro, Nazanin Boniadi, Ayelet Zorer and Sofia Black-D’Elia.
Keith Clarke wrote the script and John Ridley did the rewrite. Mark Burnett, Sean Daniel and Joni Levin are serving as producers, with Clarke and Jason Brown exec producing with Roma Downey.
Ben-Hur is the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but finds redemption.
Freeman plays Ildarin, the man who oversees the slave Judah Ben-Hur’s transformation to champion chariot racer.
Ben-Hur hits theaters on August 12.
