Garcelle Beauvais in talks to star in Jerry LaMothe’s The Promise KeeperPosted by Wilson Morales

Garcelle Beauvais , Edwidge Danticat and French actress Stana Roumillac are in talks to star in Jerry LaMothe’s Brooklyn/Haiti epic, The Promise Keeper.
Renowned photographer, Marc Baptiste has also signed on as a co-producer on the project. Pre-production and casting commenced on the film last month.
Produced, written and directed by LaMothe, The Promise Keeper is a suspense drama about two childhood best friends from Flatbush, Brooklyn, that spans over two decades, which showcases the vastly different directions they each take in life. When one gets deported back to Haiti, the other takes his first ever visit to the island, in search of answers, only months after the tragic earthquake that devastates the country.
Last month it was announced that Jimmy Jean-Louis, Jamie Hector and Golden Globe winner, S. Epatha Merkerson, are attached to the film.
The overseas portion of the movie, will be a co-production with David Belle’s Cine institute, which is operated in Jacmel Haiti.
Beauvais currently stars in Flight with Denzel Washington and can be seen next playing the First lady, opposite Jamie Foxx in White House Down.
Baptiste is a Hollywood and music world favorite-his work, has been published in Cosmopolitan US, British Cosmo, British Elle, American Elle, Esquire, German Glamour, Harpers Bazaar, Marie Claire, Spanish Harpers Bazaar, and Vanity Fair. He has also directed several short films and music videos. Promise Keeper marks his debut as producer.
Critically acclaimed and renowned novelist, Edwidge Danticat , has worked with filmmakers Patricia Benoit and Jonathan Demme, and can currently be seen in Stones in the sun, directed by Benoit.
Stana Roumillac has received rave reviews for a performance in the award winning Guadeloupian indie, Elza, currently in select theatres and directed by Mariette Monpierre.
Casting director on the Promise Keeper, is New York’s own, Winsome Sinclair.
The film is currently scheduled to go up, March 2013.
