Gbenga Akinnagbe who was last seen opposite Kiefer Sutherland in the FOX TV series 24: Live Another Day, has landed a role on the network’s other series, The Following.

In Season 3 of the Fox thriller, he’ll play Tom, a handsome and charming Hostage Rescue Team agent for the FBI. Akinnagbe joins Michael Ealy, who was recently added the newest villain to the series.

The first season of The Following was focused on the cat-and-mouse game between Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) and serial killer Joe Carroll (James Purefoy). Season 2 broadened the scope, with Carroll still a part of the puzzle but not so prominently featured. Purefoy is returning for Season 3, but given the new setup with Hardy locked in a battle with a new brilliant killer, Carroll’s days on the show could be numbered.

Akinnagbe’s TV credits include Law & Order: SVU, Graceland, Damages, Nurse Jackie, The Good Wife and The Wire, where he played ruthless killer Marlo. His recent feature roles include Fort Bliss, Phantom Hall and Home, and he stars opposite Alfre Woodard in the upcoming Knucklehead.
