Harry Lennix Up For Role In New Superman Filmby Wilson Morales
June 15, 2011
Harry Lennix, known for his role as Dresser in Robert Townsend‘s classic urban film ‘The Five Heartbeats,’ is up for a role in the new Superman film, ‘Man of Steel.’
Latinoreview is reporting that the Chicago native, along with Danish actress Connie Nielsen, are in contention for supporting role in Zack Snyder‘s reboot of the comic book film.
Apparently Facebook’s Superman: Man of Steel page has gotten their hands on the production sheet and Nielsen is up for the role of Lara, Superman’s mom.
It hasn’t specified which role Lennix was offered.
Russell Crowe will play Superman’s biological father Jor-El. Interesting enough, Nielsen and Crowe both starred in Ridley Scott‘s Oscar winning film, ‘Gladiator.’ Lennix was also featured in Crowe’s film, ‘State of Play.’
Film is due out December 2012.
“Man of Steel” follows a young twenty-something Clark Kent/Ka-El (Henry Cavill) who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – “Why Am I Here?”
Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.
