Idris Elba Gets Lead Role In Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rimby Wilson Morales

Idris Elba has been given the lead role of Sensi in the Legendary Pictures/Warner Bros sci-fi action film Pacific Rim, in which Guillermo del Toro will direct.
Joining Son of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam, the film will be produced by Jon Jashni and Thomas Tull.
The Legendary Pictures film, scripted by Travis Beacham, is set in a future where giant malevolent creatures threaten to destroy the earth, city by city. To combat its annihilation, the planet must band together and use highly advanced weapons technology to eradicate the growing threat.
Elba, who starred this summer in Thor, is currently shooting Prometheus for director Ridley Scott and 20th Century Fox. He recently completed production on Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance with Nicolas Cage. He was also being considered for Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained.
With production set to start in November, Pacific Rim will be released during summer 2013.
