Jason Mitchell, Ellar Coltrane Added To Another Barack Obama Movie ‘Barry’Posted by Wilson Morales

With his term in office ending this year, movies on President Barack Obama seem to be in high demand these days. Earlier this year, ‘Southside With You,’ which centered on the date between pre-Prez Barack Obama and Michelle Robinson, played at the Sundance Film Festival. Now, there’s another film in the works with cast announcements.
Variety is reporting that “Straight Outta Compton’s” Jason Mitchell and “Boyhood” star Ellar Coltrane have added to another Barack Obama film called “Barry.” They join Devon Terrell and Anya Taylor-Joy in the cast.
Vikram Gandhi, who currently serves as a correspondent and producer for the HBO series “Vice,” will direct the film, which will cover explores the time when Obama (Terrell) was a college student in New York City and forged key relationships, including with a fellow student (Taylor-Joy).
Written by Adam Mansbach, who wrote the bestseller “Go the F**k to Sleep,” “Barry” is being produced by Cinetic Media and Black Bear Pictures. Producers are Gandhi, Black Bear’s Teddy Schwarzman and Ben Stillman, and Cinetic’s Dana O’Keefe.
Mitchell is mostly known for his portrayal as rapper Eazy-E in the critically acclaimed box office hit “Straight Outta Compton.” He will be seen next in Key and Peele’s “Keanu,” and has been filming “Kong: Skull Island” alongside his “Compton” castmate Corey Hawkins.
Coltrane recently wrapped James Ponsoldt’s “The Circle,” starring alongside Emma Watson and Tom Hanks.
