TheWrap is reporting that Joe Robert Cole is in negotiations to write the script to the comic book film “Black Panther,” starring Chadwick Boseman.
Boseman will play T’Challa, the prince of the African nation of Wakanda who must take over the mantel after his father’s murder. Andy Serkis is expected to return as Klaw, who was seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Boseman will make his first appearance as Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War when it hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
The site also states that Cole also comes from Marvel’s in-house writing program where Nicole Pearlman, who wrote last year’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” came from. Cole is known for the 2011 film Amber Lake. He also wrote a script for The Inhumans but word is that his script will not be used.
His spec screenplay, “The Man Who’s Never Been Kissed,” won the Urban World Film Festival’s Best Screenplay Award in 2006.
With no director attached as of yet, the film is slated for a July 6, 2018 release.
