Deadline is reporting that HBO has cast Ray Fisher (Justice League) has been added as a series regular in season three of the network’s anthology series, True Detective.

The actors will be joining recent Oscar winner Mahershala Ali, Carmen Ejogo, Stephen Dorff, Scoot McNairy, and Mamie Gummer.

Rhys Wakefield, Michael Greyeyes and Jon Tenney have also been cast in recurring roles.

The third season of the anthology series is set in the heart of the Ozarks wherein a disturbing crime occurs and a mystery that deepens over decades plays out in the three separate time periods. Oscar winner Mahershala Ali will portray Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas, while Carmen Ejogo will portray Arkansas schoolteacher Amelia Reardon, who shares a connection with two missing children in 1980. Dorff will play an Arkansas State Investigator named Roland West, the partner of Ali’s Wayne Hays.

Fisher will play Freddy Burns, Wayne’s (Ali) son, and Fisher, Greyeyes, and Tenney will play recurring characters Henry Hays, Brett Woodard, and Alan Jones, respectively.

The first season of True Detective starred Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Michelle Monaghan, Michael Potts, and Tory Kittle, with the second starring Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch, Kelly Reilly, and Vince Vaughn. Season 2 didn’t have the same critical success that the first one, although it did well in the ratings department.

Fisher’s feature credits include Justice League and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Executive producers on season three of “True Detective” are Nic Pizzolatto, Scott Stephens, Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Cary Joji Fukunaga, Steve Golin, Bard Dorros, and Richard Brown. Pizzolatto, the series creator, is serving as director, writer, and showrunner.
