Lakeith Stanfield, who was recently seen playing Jimmy Lee Jackson in Ava DuVernay’s Oscar nominated film, “Selma,” has been added to the cast of “Snowden,” Oliver Stone’s movie about the notorious NSA leaker, Edward Snowden.
Open Road will release the film on December 25.
Stanfield, who had a breakout in the indie film ‘Short Term 12,’ joins Joe Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley, Scott Eastwood, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Rhys Ifans, Nicolas Cage, Joely Richardson and Timothy Olyphant.
Stanfield will play a National Security Administration co-worker and close friend to Joe Gordon-Levitt’s Edward Snowden.
He appeared in last year’s The Purge: Anarchy and in the Sundance pic Dope. His upcoming film include playing Snoop Dogg in Straight Outta Compton, and in the biopic Miles Ahead, starring Don Cheadle as jazz genius Miles Davis.
