Leonard RobertsLeonard Roberts, who appeared in original 2002 film ‘Drumline,’ will reprise his role for the sequel, ‘Drumline 2: A New Beat.’

Airing on VH1, the focuses on a new set of characters at a fictional New Orleans university. The story follows Danielle (Dani) Bolton, an upper-class Brooklyn girl who defies her parents in order to attend a college in Louisiana so she can join – and revitalize – their once-prominent drumline.

Roberts will reprise his role of Sean Taylor, who was the percussion leader of the marching band that including Devon Miles (played by Nick Cannon). Cannon will exec produce the sequel.

Co-written by Karen Gist and Regina Hicks, the film will be directed by Bille Woodruff (Honey, Beauty Shop). Fox TV Studios is co-financing the film with the possibility of creating a pilot if the film is well received.

A veteran actor with numerous TV credits, some of Roberts’ work includes roles on Buffy the Vampire Slayer as Forrest Gates,  Smallville as Nam-Ek, and as “D. L.” Hawkins on Heroes.
