Megalyn Echikunwoke, Romany Malco, Bresha Webb Added To Cast Of Malcolm D. Lee’s Night SchoolPosted by Wilson Morales

Blackfilm.com has learned that Megalyn Echikunwoke, Romany Malco, Bresha Webb, Al Madrigal and Ben Schwartz are the latest additions to Universal’s comedy Night School, which will be directed by Malcolm D. Lee.
They join a cast that includes Kevin Hart, Tiffany Haddish, Yvonne Orji, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Taran Killam and Rob Riggle.
Production has starting filming in Atlanta.
The project, from Hartbeat Productions and Will Packer Productions, follows a group of misfits who are forced to attend adult classes in the long-shot chance they’ll pass the GED exam. Rajskub will play Theresa, a hardworking mom with several kids who got pregnant in high school and is now trying to earn her GED., while Killam will play the school’s principal Stewart, who rules the school with an iron fist. Schwartz will play Hart’s best friend, an investment adviser who wants to give his pal a job but can’t until Hart passes his GED.
Will Packer will produce for his Will Packer Productions alongside Hart, who will produce via his Hartbeat Productions banner. James Lopez, head of motion pictures for Will Packer Productions, will executive produce
Based on a story by Hart, Night School was written by Hart, Harry Ratchford, Joey Wells and Matt Kellard, with additional script work by Nick Stoller.
Senior vp production Kristin Lowe will oversee for Universal.
Last seen in this past summer’s CHiPs, Echikunwoke’s next film will be the dance comedy Step Sisters, directed by directed by Charles Stone III (Drumline). A veteran of numerous TV shows, she also appeared on the CW’s Arrow as the DC Comics superhero Vixen for an episode, as well as providing her voice for the character in a short animated series.
Schwartz starred opposite Don Cheadle in Showtime’s House of Lies. He was recently mominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Actor in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for Funny or Die’s The Earliest Show.
Malco was last seen in David E. Talbert’s Almost Christmas. Malco also starred with Kevin Hart in Packer’s Think Like a Man and its sequel Think Like a Man Too. Other film credits include The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Blades of Glory, Last Vegas, Top Five, and When The Bough Breaks.
Webb starred opposite Mike Epps in the comedy Meet the Blacks among her film credits. She just finished up Season 1 of NBC’s Marlon, starring Marlon Wayans.
Madrigal is a series regular in the Showtime dark comedy I’m Dying Up Here, which was renewed for a second season. He was a regular correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
Night School will hit theaters on Sept. 28, 2018
