The Hollywood Reporter is stating that Michael B. Jordan is attached to star in MGM’s second remake of “The Thomas Crown Affair.” No writer or director has been hired as of yet.
Jordan’s first collaboration with MGM began with the 2015 Rocky spinoff film “Creed,” which was distributed by Warner Bros. and grossed near $172 million worldwide.
Among the accolades he’s received, Jordan recently won Entertainer of the Year award at the 2016 NAACP Image Awards for his role in “Creed.”
The original “The Thomas Crown Affair” was released in 1968 with Norman Jewison directing. Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway starred with McQueen playing the mastermind behind a Boston bank robbery of $2.66 million. Dunaway played the insurance investigator who realizes that Crown has orchestrated the heist.
A 1999 remake starred Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo with John McTiernan directing. The film was a solid hit with $124 million in worldwide grosses.
Prior to his role as Adonis Creed, son of Apollo Creed, in “Creed,” Jordan was best known for his role as Wallace in HBO’s critically acclaimed series “The Wire.” His previous film credits include roles in George Lucas’ “Red Tails,” the Sundance Award winner “Fruitvale Station,” which was directed by Creed’s Ryan Coogler, “Chronicle,” “That Awkward Moment,” and last year’s “Fantastic Four.”
