Netflix will premiere the comedy “The Incredible Jessica James,” starring Jessica Williams (The Daily Show) on June 23.
Written and directed by Jim Strouse, Jessica James (Jessica Williams), a young, aspiring playwright in New York City, is struggling to get over a recent breakup while trying to make it in the competitive world of the theater. Reluctantly forced to date by a well-meaning friend, she meets the recently divorced Boone (Chris O’Dowd). An unlikely duo at first, together, they discover how to make it through the tough times, in a social media obsessed post-relationship universe, while realizing they like each other – a lot. Lakeith Stanfield (FX’s “Atlanta”, Straight Outta Compton), Noël Wells (Netflix’s “Master of None”) and Sarah Jones co-star.
The film had its world premiere and was the Closing Night film of the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. It was produced by Michael B. Clark and Alex Turtletaub of Beachside and executive produced by Jessica Williams, Noël Wells, and Kerri Hundley.
Williams previously appeared in Strouse’s “People Places Things.” Before leaving in 2016, Williams was The Daily Show’s youngest correspondent ever when she was hired in 2012.
