HBO has released a new poster for “Confirmation,” starring Kerry Washington and Wendell Pierce. The courtroom drama will premiere on SATURDAY, APRIL 16 at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT), exclusively on HBO.

Written by Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich) and directed by Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), the film centers on the 1991 confirmation hearings of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas (played by Pierce), who came under fire when onetime adviser Anita Hill (played by Washington) accused Thomas of sexually harassing her.

Grant will also executive produce the drama, which is being produced by Groundswell Productions in association with ABC Signature Studios. Groundswell CEO Michael London (ABC’s upcoming soap Astronaut Wives Club) and production president Janice Williams will executive produce alongside Grant and star Washington.

Also featured in the film are Jennifer Hudson, who will play Angela Wright, who worked with Thomas at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and issued a key statement about Thomas’ comments about women. Greg Kinnear is set as then-Sen. Joe Biden, who presided over the hearings as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee; Jeffrey Wright will portray Charles Ogletree, who served as legal counsel to Hill during the hearings; Kimberly Elise plays Sonia Jarvis, a civil rights attorney on Anita Hill’s legal team, and Alison Wright (The Americans) is Ginni Thomas, an attorney and Clarence’s wife.

Dylan Baker plays Republican Senator Orrin Hatch. Erika Christensen plays Shirley Wiegand, Hill’s close friend. Malcolm Gets plays Republican Senator Arlen Specter. Grace Gummer plays Ricki Seidman, aide to Senator Edward Kennedy. Zoe Lister-Jones portrays Carolyn Hart, an aide to Senator Biden. Peter McRobbie portrays Republican Senator Alan Simpson. Treat Williams plays Democratic Senator Edward Kennedy and Eric Stonestreet portrays Ken Duberstein, a Washington lobbyist hired by President George H. W. Bush to promote Judge Thomas’ confirmation.
