Newcomer Kevin Navayne Lands Roles in ’42’, and Marcus Garvey and Miles Davis Projectsby Wilson Morales

Model-actor Kevin Navayne has been added to the Jackie Robinson biopic ‘42,’ joining Chadwick Boseman, Harrison Ford, Chris Meloni, Nicole Beharie, Brad Beyer, Gina Pesi, and Andre Holland.
42 is the biopic of Jackie Robinson, the first African-American to play in the major leagues. Brian Helgeland will direct from a script he penned with newcomer Boseman set to play Jackie Robinson. Harrison Ford will play Brooklyn Dodgers general manager Branch Rickey. Beharie’s playing Rachel Isum, Robinson’s love interest who would later become his wife. Navayne will be playing Mack Robinson, Jackie’s older brother.
Robinson, who died in 2000, was also an athlete, setting a world record and winning a silver medal in the 1936 Summer Olympics.
The Jamaican native began his acting career in 2000 as an extra in the HBO movie Disappearing Acts starring Wesley Snipes, and Sanaa Lathan. After the movie aired Navayne was spotted by modeling agent Beth Ann Moore in which thus began a career in modeling. During this time Kevin began modeling for notable designers such as Ralph Lauren, IZOD, Nautica, La Coste, Sean John, Roc a Wear, Avirex and Marc Ecko just to name a few. Kevin Navayne is also currently the face of Roberto Cavalli’s RC line and has signed on to represent Ralph Lauren Black Label Denim.
In 2008, Navayne appeared in BET’s fashion show Rip the Runway and in the movie “Days of Wrath,” with Laurence Fishburne and Taye Diggs, He also appeared in an episode of Law & Order SVU. In 2009, he guest starred on multiple episodes of the Lifetime hit show “Army Wives.” 2010 landed Navayne a recurring role on CBS’s hit drama “CSI: NY.” Kevin also played a starring role on the Syfy network in the show “Caprica,” as well as recurring role on the daytime soap “One Life to Live.”
In addition Kevin will be playing the lead role as the Jamaican civil rights leader “Marcus Garvey” in the bio pic based on his life which will be released at the end of 2013 for Academy Award consideration. Kevin has also been tapped to play the drummer, “Marcus Miller” who played behind the legendary Miles Davis which will star Don Cheadle in 2013. Kevin has just recently landed a role to play a lead in the new HBO series “Da Brick” which is based loosely on former boxing great Mike Tyson’s life which will be produced by “Entourage’s” Doug Ellin and being directed by Spike Lee. He is also in negotiations to play ‘Willis Stryker’ in the Marvel comic super hero movie “Luke Cage.”
