September 13, 2011
Coming out this week is the film that most people have been talking about since it premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival – ‘Drive’
“Drive” is the story of a Hollywood stunt driver by day (Ryan Gosling), a loner by nature, who moonlights as a top-notch getaway driver-for-hire in the criminal underworld. He finds himself a target for some of LA’s most dangerous men after agreeing to aid the husband of his beautiful neighbor, Irene (Carey Mulligan). When the job goes dangerously awry, the only way he can keep Irene and her son alive is to do what he does best—Drive!
Also cast in the film are Bryan Cranston, Ron Perlman, Christina Hendricks, Oscar Isaac, and Albert Brooks.
Director Nicolas Winding Refn, who previously directed the 2008 Brit film ‘Bronson‘ with Tom Hardy and 2009 film ‘Valhalla Rising,’ won the Cannes Award for Best Director for ‘Drive.’
Perlman, who was one of the last actors to join the cast, plays Nino, a key villain in the film.
This past July at the San Diego Comic Con, both Refn and Perlman sat and spoke about being part of this dramatic thriller, which has people buzzing about Gosling’s performance.
‘Drive’ opens in theaters on September 23, 2011
