Nicole Beharie, who recently left the Fox series ‘Sleepy Hollow,’ and Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy) have joined Michael Ealy and his A Perfect Guy director David M. Rosenthal for the remake to “Jacob’s Ladder.”
The 1990 original film starred Tim Robbins as a Vietnam veteran living in New York City named Jacob Singer. Haunted by his past, Singer begins a descent into madness that threatens to blend reality and delusion with the threat of a Dante-inspired damnation. The new take on the property is said to reexamine the themes of the original against a contemporary backdrop, offering “a modern day paranoid action thriller about two brothers.”
Sarah Thorp wrote the latest screenplay. Will Packer, through his Will Packer Productions company, will produce the film alongside Michael Gaeta, Mickey Liddell, Jennifer Monroe and Alison Rosenzweig.
Beharie was the co-star of Sleepy Hollow since the beginning until her character Abbie was killed off a few weeks ago. Her big screen role was playing Rachel Robinson opposite Chadwick Boseman in the Jackie Robinson biopic ’42.’ Her previous credits include Matthew A. Cherry’s ‘The Last Fall’ with Lance Gross, ‘Shame’ with Michael Fassbender, and ‘American Violent’ with Alfre Woodard.
Williams currently plays Dr. Jackson Avery on the long-running ABC series ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’ His previous film credits include ‘Lee Daniels’ The Butler’ and ‘The Cabin in the Woods.’
Principal photography is set to begin in May.
