October 8, 2011
On October 7, 2011 in New York City, Blackfilm.com attended the 49th annual New York Film Festival presentation of “Shame” at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center.
Showing up were Producer Iain Canning, actor Michael Fassbender, director Steve McQueen, actor James Badge Dale, and actress Elizabeth Masucci.
‘Shame’ revolves around Fassbender’s character Brandon, a 30-something man living in New York who is unable to manage his sex life. After his wayward younger sister Sissy (Mulligan) moves into his apartment, Brandon’s world spirals out of control. The film is said to be an examination of the nature of need, how we live our lives and the experiences that shape us.
After the film, the main principals there sat down for a Q and A.
