Variety is reporting that “Straight Outta Compton” star O’Shea Jackson Jr. is in talks to join Legendary’s “Godzilla: King of the Monsters.”
The film is a sequel to the 2014 film that starred Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe, and Elizabeth Olsen.
Michael Dougherty is directing the film from a script he co-wrote with Zach Shields. The cast already includes Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, and “Stranger Things” actress Millie Bobby Brown. The site also stated that Watanabe is the only original cast member likely to return for the second installment.
“Godzilla: King of Monsters” will hit theaters on March 22, 2019, with the monster mash-up “Godzilla vs. Kong” slated to bow the following year on May 29, 2020.
O’Shea made his film debut playing his father, Ice Cube, in the blockbuster N.W.A biopic “Straight Outta Compton,” which took in $200M worldwide. He was last seen in the Sundance film “Ingrid Goes West” opposite Aubrey Plaza and is currently filming the action film “Den of Thieves” with Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson.
