Paramount Pictures has plans to develop a feature film titled Substitute Teacher, which is based on the sketch character from Comedy Central’s show “Key & Peele.”
The original “Substitute Teacher” sketch stars Keegan-Michael Key as Mr. Garvey, an inner-city substitute who doesn’t quite fit in when he’s assigned to teach a room full of middle-class white students.
With a script written by Alex Rubens and Rich Talarico, the site reports that Jordan Peele will take on the role of a rival teacher.
Key was last seen on the big screen in Let’s Be Cops and Horrible Bosses 2 while Peele will appear in the upcoming Netflix series “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp.” Both actors also starred together on the first season of FX’s“Fargo.”
Key and Peele will both also produce Substitute Teacher through 21 Laps alongside Dan Levine and Shawn Levy. Principato Young Entertainment’s Peter Principato, Paul Young and Joel Zadak will also produce with Will Rack overseeing for 21 Laps.
