Yesterday, Wednesday, June 20 in Miami Beach, the 16th Annual American Black Film Festival kicked off it’s opening night with the showing of the Sundance award-winning film, Beasts of the Southern Wild.
Prior to its screening, ABFF Founder Jeff Friday came on stage to talk about the upcoming events and films being done at the festival and introduced some of the festival’s main sponsors, including Lucinda Martinez, Vice President of Domestic. Network Distribution & Multicultural Marketing for HBO, and thanked the festival’s Ambassador,Tracey Ellis Ross.
After the encore presentation of “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” where director Benh Zeitlin and actor Dwight Henry came to to talk to the crowd, folks were taken by trolley to the City of Miami’s VIP Reception, and finished off the evening at the Arkadia Lounge in the Fontainebleu Hotel.
The music was provided by DJ Shogun.
