FilmBuff has released the poster and trailer to CodeGirl, which is directed Lesley Chilcott and hits theaters on November 1 in Los Angeles before expanding nationwide later on. The film will be available on all major On Demand platforms, including Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, iTunes, Sony PlayStation, Steam, Vudu and Xbox Video, beginning on November 6th, 2015.
Produced by Tracey Karka, Tiffany Haynes and Lesley Chilcott, CodeGirl is a documentary working towards fostering an environment where girls and women seek out opportunities in science and thrive.
By 2017, the app market will be valued at $77 Billion. Over 80% of these developers are male. The Technovation Challenge aims to change that by empowering girls worldwide to develop apps for an international competition. From rural Moldova to urban Brazil to suburban Massachusetts, CODEGIRL follows teams who dream of holding their own in the world’s fastest-growing industry. The winning team gets $10K to complete and release their app, but every girl discovers something valuable along the way.
The film follows groups AMEKA (USA), Team Charis (Nigeria), PortMund (Brazil), WoCo (USA), X-Women (India), and Puppy Sized Elephants (USA).
