Red Band Teaser Trailer To Ingrid Goes WestPosted by Wilson Morales

April 3, 2017

NEON has released a teaser trailer to Ingrid Goes West, directed by Matt Spicer from a script written by Spicer and David Branson Smith.

Hitting theaters on August 4, the cast includes Aubrey Plaza, Elizabeth Olsen, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Wyatt Russell, Billy Magnussen, Pom Klementieff, Hannah Utt, and Joseph Breen.

Awkward, lonely, and struggling twenty-something Ingrid Thorburn (Aubrey Plaza) becomes obsessed with stylish, sun-kissed Taylor Sloane (Elizabeth Olsen), whose meticulously curated social-media presence – with its Joan Didion first editions, avocado toast and desert-chic weekends in Joshua Tree – has won her online fandom as the coolest chick in Los Angeles.  After relocating to the West Coast with a small inheritance, she rents a nearby apartment from Dan (O’Shea Jackson), her Batman-obsessed landlord, and promptly ingratiates herself into the lives of Taylor and her boyfriend Ezra (Wyatt Russell). As she’s accepted into Taylor’s inner circle, Ingrid soon discovers that her glamorous Insta-bestie isn’t exactly as advertised. When Taylor’s scheming brother Nicky (Billy Magnussen) threatens to ruin Ingrid’s “fabulous” makeover, a rift develops, prompting both women to come to terms with their true selves.

Making his breakout feature debut, writer-director Matt Spicer mines wicked comedy, dark psychodrama and scathing satire out of friendship and connection in the “like me”era – where loneliness, vulnerability and deception bubble just beneath the surface of our carefully constructed public personas.  Winner of the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Prize at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, INGRID GOES WEST showcases a stellar ensemble cast and through its unforgettable central duo of Aubrey Plaza and Elizabeth Olsen, embraces the joy and horror of over-sharing in our hyper-connected age.
