Regina King is set to join the cast of Oscar winner John Ridley‘s hourlong ABC drama American Crime in a season-long arc and will be returning to The Big Bang Theory, states The Hollywood Reporter.

Not only that, but the former Southland actress will be directing an episode of Shonda Rhimes’ TV series, ‘Scandal’ in February 2016.’

Written, executive produced and directed by Ridley and starring Timothy Hutton and Felicity Huffman, ‘American Crime’ examines the personal lives of the players involved in a racially charged trial as their worlds are turned upside down.

King will play the devoutly religious sister of Carter who comes to Modesto in order to help her brother navigate a judicial system that she believes is stacked against him. She’ll film the seven-episode role with an option for two additional installments until mid-November.

On The Big Bang Theory, she shot one episode in her recurring role as Janine Davis, the Human Resources Administrator (HRA) at Caltech where Kunal Nayyar’s Raj works.

King will also have a recurring role on the FX series The Strain. She was seen in the Lifetime Original Movie, The Gabby Douglas Story. Prior to that, she spent five seasons playing Lydia Adams on TNT’s Southland.
