According to TVLine, actress Ryan Michelle Bathe has joined the cast of Fox and Lee Daniels’ drama Empire, where she will play one of the beautiful trophy ex-wives of Forest Whitaker‘s character.
In the fall finale of Season 4 that aired in December Eddie (Whitaker) found himself fleeced of his fortune. The burgeoning financial calamity prompts him to recruit his most recent ex-wife Celeste (played by Bathe) to assist him in selling off one of his major assets. Bathe will appear on a recurring basis.
Nicole Ari Parker was already on the series and also made her appearance in that episode as Giselle Barker, another one of his wives
Bathe is also the real-life wife to two-time Emmy Award winner Sterling K. Brown and appeared on his show This Is Us as Yvette, the mother of Randall’s childhood friend via flashback. Her additional credits include Boston Legal, Trauma and Army Wives.
Empire is set to resume Season 4 in March.
